I watched the wolf's gaze soften, hold mine as though glued into the stare, it's eyes whisper something to my soul, and I was warmed by it, drawn by it, so swayed like free leaves pulled by the wind. It's eyes met mine, held them with precision. It growled, huffed, then turned back to me. I was rubbing the wolf's body when it suddenly stood up and backed away, then turned to stare out into the woods as though it heard something my more simple ears couldn't. It's big form, heavy against my smaller frame.
